- Welcome and orient new and current members to available resources
- Engage unengaged members
- Planning events/social gatherings
- Connecting Shop Stewards with members to address their needs
Possible subgroups or projects
Membership
- Member Meeting logistics/planning
- Maintain our member list and update with correct contact information
- Create overview/handout of structure of AFSCME/DC37/Local 3005 and some union terminology (shop steward, grievance, delegate, etc.)
- Engage membership through regular workplace meetings
Event planning/social subcommittee
- Plan annual holiday party
- Plan other social gatherings
Shop Stewards Subcommittee
- Raise awareness of shop stewards
- Streamline/simplify communication with shop stewards
- Guide members who are interested in becoming shop stewards
- Possible Shop Steward Subcommittee projects:
- Maintain Member Action Teams by assigning Shop Stewards and other Activists specific lists of 10 members who they will connect with 1:1
- Ensure that members know who to go to for help
- Map out our workplaces
- Develop process for how shop stewards will work with grievance rep and make sure grievance rep is doing their job
