Political Action Committee (PAC)

Description

• Advocate for policies, legislation, action, and specific candidates (both within DC37/Local 3005 and in NYC at large)
• Interface with DC37 PAC on political matters
• Organize member actions (phone/text banking, canvassing, etc.)
• Develop subgroups that focus on issues important to the broader community (e.g., NY health act, immigration, city/state budgets, retiree healthcare)
• Follow bills at state and city level that have direct implications

Possible subgroups or projects

• Internal

• Research and advice on policies/legislation that impact OCME, DOHMH or public health work

• Intra-DC37

• Organize and collaborate with other Locals

• External/inter-union

• Organize with other unions on NYC issues

• PREPARE TALKING POINTS/PLATFORM ON PRIVATIZATION OF HEALTHCARE BENEFITS

• Political education (Coordinate with Membership Committee)

• Book lists/book club, movie screenings, etc.
• Organize talks/events
